Jimmy Choo, maker of super luxe stilettos and handbags, turns 15 this year. Saks POV caught up with Tamara Mellon, Jimmy Choo’s chief creative officer and star of its sensual fragrance ads.
Saks POV: What do you buy to get ready for fall?
Tamara Mellon: I look for a great transition piece like an ankle boot or a suede hobo bag. Because I travel a lot, I need pieces that are versatile.
POV: What are the top shoe trends?
T.M.: With all the music festivals happening, especially like indie rock gathering and mud fest Glastonbury in England, the casual biker boot makes a strong statement. At the same time, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, I feel that women are returning to classic feminine luxury. A pointy toe pump on a stiletto heel is making an important comeback for fall.
POV: What is inspiring you now?
T.M.: I have recently relocated to New York and am very influenced by the unique energy of the city. As a mother and a working woman my day can take me from downtown to uptown, from board meeting to art opening, so I try to keep my looks classic and infuse spirit and color with my accessories.
