Alexander Wang is fashion’s wunderkind. The 29-year-old designer’ spring 2012 collection ranked high as one of the most talked about of the season for a multitude of reasons — razor-sharp tailoring and a phalanx of lightning-hot models just to list a couple. Motivated by an urge “to pull garments apart,” Wang explained to Style.com, the focus of the collection was seductively slashed sportswear with athletic overtones. But it was the show’s sensational finale look that energized an audience of jaded runway watchers. Wang delivered a series of ivory-hued looks that glowed in the dark with an effect he described as “Tron-like.” We love the minimalist shoes that anchored the collection. Understated by day, these architectural sandals will be the center of attention once the lights go down. It’s a mix of form and function that’s playful, daring and sophisticated, which sums up nicely the attitude of Alexander Wang’s growing army of fans.
