I’m in a Marie Antoinette state of mind as I’ll be in Europe in September for three glorious weeks. I’m leaving work and LA life behind and taking suitcases filled with opulent head to toe pieces fit for a queen. After all, fall 2012 is trending with opulence so there’s no reason to hold back. Rich velvets and metallics, jacquard, brocade and Renaissance inspired prints keep floating in my head conjuring a sense of lavish refinement reminiscent of the royal yesteryear. For me, channeling the opulence trend is not just about looking like Versailles-it’s about feeling effortlessly ladylike and regal. The trend’s emphasis on decorative fabrics that are rich in color, pattern and texture make it absolutely accessible to look and feel like royalty.
With my outfit, I kept jewelry at a minimum as the ornately printed Stella McCartney silk top and brocade skirt are already bejeweling. The crystal encrusted Chloe purse adds another layer of bling while the baroque Prada sunglasses infuses shaded dimension to the look. The Louboutins add to the color saturation and completes my modern “queen for a day” look. Let them wear baroque!
