Saks Unveils New Experience: The Fragrance Library

A new concept shop comprised of the world's best fragrances.

Saks Fifth Avenue hosted a breakfast on the fifth floor of its New York flagship store to celebrate the unveiling of its new concept shop centered around nothing but the very best fragrances in the world: The Fragrance Library. Comprised of new classics like Dior’s Miss Dior and brand new favorites, like Givenchy’s recent big hit Dahlia Divin, the new shop will serve as a go-to point for fragrance shoppers who want to find golden oldies they cherish, or to find a new favorite scent that they’ve yet to discover.

Welcome to the Fragrance Library

Beauty editors and bloggers were invited to partake in the festivities. As guests arrived, they were met by a gorgeous wall display built to mirror a clean and modern library, this one, naturally, composed of the who’s who of scents in the beauty market. Luckily, shoppers are not left to their own defenses in matters of finding the perfect scent. Fragrance librarians will be on hand to help Saks shoppers through the olfactory challenge of finding the perfect scent.

Guest Blog: She’s In The Glow x Sisley-Paris Black Rose Precious Face Oil

Say hello to the new classic product from the Sisley-Paris Black Rose family.

Beauté maven Annie Atkinson is not your average beauty blogger. She has first-hand, real-world knowledge of how beauty products and the beauty world work, having been part of the marketing team at Chanel Beaute and Fragrance, not to mention spearheading her own sensational beauty site ShesInTheGlow.com. Her wit, keen eye and thorough know-how have gained her quite the following among beauty enthusiasts. So, when the time came to test-drive Sisley-Paris’ new breakout skincare hit – Black Rose Precious Face Oil, we had to turn to Annie for her opinion. We’re thrilled to welcome her as a guest editor for this post and equally excited to find out from this beauty connoisseur, that where Sisley-Paris’ first face oil is concerned, the hype is real.

I became crazily addicted to Sisley-Paris’ Black Rose Cream Mask after hearing that legendary makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury relies on it’s “instant youth” properties backstage on her model muses. This cult classic truly lives up to its anti-aging reputation; it eased the signs of fatigue and left my skin looking youthful and energized. It’s my go-to mask after a long flight, before a big event, or as part of my weekly skincare maintenance routine.

Upon hearing that Sisley had created its very first oil as part of the Black Rose family, I needed to get involved, like immediately. Sisley’s newly launched Black Rose Precious Face Oil is like heaven in a jar.

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to my skin, I am quite obsessed. I strive for perfection and live by the motto that with luminous, glowing skin, you don’t really need much makeup. I guess you could say that I am currently sporting the “no makeup” look, and with that, I like my face to look clean and radiant. Sisley’s luxurious oil is the easiest way to achieve the best skin possible.

This is how I use my latest skincare obsession that is sure to become a staple in my skincare routine…

Step 1: Morning and evening, wash you face as you normally would using your favorite cleanser, and pat dry.

Step 2: Apply a few drops (3-7) of Sisley Black Rose Precious Face Oil onto clean skin, focusing on your cheeks, forehead and chin. Make sure to avoid the area around your eyes.

Step 3: Using the tips of your fingers, blend oil into face and down into neck.

Step 4: Continue on with the rest of your skincare regime, applying serum, lotion or cream, followed by your eye cream, or simply use the oil alone.

Step 5: Watch as lines are smoothed, and the skin feels soft and supple. Even as the day does on, your skin feels and looks smoother, brighter and restored, without being the least bit shiny.

Sisley’s Face Oil is an anti-aging dry oil, so it doesn’t clog your pores, or make you look shiny or greasy. Not only does the silky smooth formula look and feel amazing, it is packed with powerful, plant-based active ingredients that nourish, regenerate and protect. It’s light enough to wear year-round, so if you live by the notion that oils should be shelved until winter, think again. The light floral scent has a slight aromatherapy effect, so it even helps me relax before bedtime. I apply the oil once or twice a day on clean skin, and follow up with the rest of my skincare regimen. I notice results right away – it’s like magic! Fine lines diminished. My skin appeared firm and plumped! I even noticed the dryness around my nose disappear after just one use. And in just a few drops, you too will see what I mean.

A Guest Samples the Madagascar Pink Pepper on Hand

Top bloggers and beauty editors were invited to partake in the festivities at a press breakfast held at the new shop, where they met with Walter Johnsen, one of the leading masterminds behind the production of the fragrance, who came prepared with blotters and a wide arrangement of bar elements of natural notes that helped to comprise the combined scent of Fatale, including Velvet Gardenia, Madagascar Pink Pepper, exotic blackcurrant and Indonesian Patchouli.

Strapped In and Faceted

Guests also had the pleasure of meeting with Laura Foote, Agent Provocateur Fatale’s bottle designer. She indulged guests who were curious about her approach to designing a fragrance bottle for a lingerie brand. “The concept behind the Fatale fragrance bottle is that the Agent Provocateur woman is a modern-day retro vixen,” she said. “She’s very multi-faceted individual – a working professional; she’s very strong, she’s very independent, but I kept in mind the brand’s lingerie that Monica Cruz is wearing in the fragrance national ad. There’s a lot of strapping, which when translated to glass, gives the bottle its faceting. It is meant to pick up on the way the angles of the lingerie sit on the body.”
