Pretty shoes and nail art are fun for every girl. But the combinations is positively catnip for the editors at every girl’s catnip Fashion Indie.
Knowing such, SaksPOV put Fashion Indie Editor in Chief Samantha Lim and Managing Editor Amanda Gabriele up to a challenge: Find the perfect pair from 10022-SHOE and create a pedicure to match at Valley Nails NYC in SoHo.
“Someone once told me about a red to white ombre, glitter-ridden candy coated paint job. I thought they were talking about a car,” Lim recalls. “They were talking about Valley Nails. Needless, to say, I’ve been dying to go ever since.”
Lim, 27, chose a pair of magenta and purple strappy B Brian Atwood sandals. “The rich, bold colors are perfect for summer,” coos Lim. “And the impossibly thin straps are delicate and sexy.” Nail artist Kuniko Inoue’s interpretation of the shoe included a hot pink/orange base with glitter flecks to imitate the texture of the shoe’s fish scale detail.
Nail artist Ayumi Motegi’s steady hands perfectly replicated the feminine floral print on Gabriele’s ultra feminine Alice+Olivia wedges. “Alice + Olivia is always so young and playful, but sophisticated,” says Gabriele. “They can be dressed down with cutoff denim shorts just as well as dressed up for a garden party or cocktail hour.”
Lim and Gabriele are both big believers in matching their pedicures to shoes —it’s a great conversation starter, “I can’t tell you how many people stop me on the street and compliment me on the nail art,” says Gabriele. “Every pair of shoes should come with a pedi!”
